Hanley Christian Reformed Church

What We Believe

Hanley is part of the Christian Reformed denomination which has its origins in Netherlands immigrants to the United States in the 1800s. The Christian Reformed Church (CRC) is made up of just over one thousand congregations across the United States and Canada.

We believe there is one God who has revealed himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • There is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Isaiah 45:21
  • For us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:6
  • May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God.

  • These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.  John 20:31
  • All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:16-17

We believe that all people have sinned. None of us is perfect, but God offers forgiveness to all who believe in Jesus Christ.

  • For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes I him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
  • But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
